Description

Lumenera - Murales

Lumenera by Cantina Murales represents one of the most original, complex and elegant interpretations of Gallura's winemaking tradition, born from the winery's deliberate desire to experiment with new production techniques. This extraordinary 100% Vermentino di Gallura DOCG is produced from vineyards in the Olbia area, at an altitude of 150 metres above sea level, with a favourable South and South-West exposure. The vineyard is planted at a high density of 6,250 vines per hectare, trained using the Guyot system, a choice designed to encourage maximum concentration of extractive compounds in the grapes. The distinctive feature of this wine is its late harvest, carried out entirely by hand after 20 September, allowing grapes with exceptional richness and aromatic maturity to be selected.

The cellar protocol breaks with traditional white-wine techniques: it begins with two days of skin maceration and continues with complete fermentation in wooden tonneaux. The subsequent ageing process involves 12 months in concrete tanks, during which daily bâtonnage is carried out to keep the fine lees in suspension and provide greater stability, followed by 2 months of bottle ageing. This technique softens the wine's profile and perfectly integrates its 13.8% alcohol content, creating a sumptuous white wine without harsh edges.

A fascinating aspect of this Murales label lies in the very concept behind it, conceived to challenge traditional conventions and demonstrate how the island's emblematic grape variety can evolve and maintain its value in the years following the harvest. Its rich structure and ageing potential place it among the most remarkable age-worthy white wines of northern Sardinia, an excellent example of craftsmanship and stylistic evolution.

Visually, it displays an intense, luminous straw-yellow colour. On the nose, it opens with a broad and persistent bouquet, in which floral and fruity aromas alternate with vegetal notes and spicy nuances. On the palate, it is harmonious, with a body distinguished by concentration and a rounded progression, accompanied by a persistent finish featuring resinous and fruity nuances. Thanks to its impressive organoleptic structure, it lends itself to unusual pairings, proving excellent with structured fish dishes such as cacciucco, savoury salt cod and oily fish, as well as grilled meats and spicy preparations. Recommended serving temperature: 9–12°C.
