Saldenya - Podere Guardia Grande
The Podere Guardia Grande estate stands on a panoramic promontory in the hamlet of Guardia Grande, a place where Mediterranean maquis meets red rocks and the deep blue of the sea. Saldenya is the result of this union between land and water: a 100% Vermentino that benefits from a unique microclimate, characterised by strong temperature variations between day and night and intense natural light. The producer’s philosophy is to intervene as little as possible, allowing the quality of the raw material to speak for itself. The vineyards, cultivated at around 30 metres above sea level, are rooted in fertile soil that gives the wine balanced structure and a distinct sense of place.
The production process is designed to enhance the purity of the island’s most renowned native grape variety. Following a hand harvest that ensures the grapes remain intact, the winemaking process is carried out with the utmost care to prevent oxidation and preserve the aromatic precursors. On the nose, Saldenya opens with a complex and inviting bouquet, where exotic fruit notes mingle with hints of wild herbs and a distinctive saline breeze. On the palate, its alcohol-glycerine softness is immediately balanced by a lively acidity that makes the wine agile and persistent, characteristic of the great white wines of the Alghero coast.
